Summary: Despite being legally obligated to make annual payments to landowners, oil and gas company Rally Canada Resources Ltd. reportedly violated some of their Alberta Surface Rights Agreements by not paying lessees for a number of years.

Alberta is a province rich in oil and gas. While there is an enormous amount of this resource in our province, most is located deep beneath the ground and is prohibitively expensive to extract. As a result, many farmers and land owners will enter into Alberta Surface Rights Agreements with oil and gas companies such as Rally Canada Resources Ltd. which mine the resource in exchange for annual compensation.

According to the Class Members of the Class Action lawsuit commenced by Guardian Law Group, Rally Canada Resources stopped paying them their entitled compensation for a number of years. These Plaintiffs were contractually obligated to receive compensation every year for the duration of their agreements. According to the Statement of Claim filed by Guardian Law Group, no reasonable justification was provided by Rally Canada Resources for violating their Alberta Surface Rights Agreements.

Agreements may have originally been entered into with other companies, such as Pinnacle Resources Ltd. or Harvest Operations Corp.

This claim is meant to put money back in the pockets of Albertans.
