Guardian Law Group Assessing Class Action Against Revera & McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre

May 06, 2020

Guardian Law Group LLP is determining the viability of a Class Action lawsuit against the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre (owned and operated by Revera Inc.) due to their recent handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in many lives lost.

There have been over 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the facility, resulting in more than 21 deaths. Roughly 60% of confirmed cases are residents, with the remainder being staff.

Several other Revera facilities across Canada have experienced coronavirus outbreaks but the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre has had the largest surge of infections, being by-far the worst outbreak amongst these types of facilities in the province. At one point, over 40% of Alberta’s COVID-19 deaths came from this one centre.
